Thurman Thomas is a former Pro Bowl running back for the Buffalo Bills. He was one of the main reasons why the Bills appeared in a record four consecutive Super Bowls in the 1990s.
In 2007, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Born in Houston, Texas, Thomas attended Willowridge High School, where he was a standout. He went on to Oklahoma State University, where he was the school's all-time leading rusher. While at OSU, Thomas was a teammate of future NFL Hall of Fame inductee, Barry Sanders.
Due to a knee injury, Thomas was drafted by the Bills in the second round. However, Buffalo traded away their first pick, thus, making Thomas the Bills first choice. The AFC's leading rusher for 1990, 1991, and 1993, Thomas made the Pro Bowl 5 times. He was an integral component to the the Bills' success in the early 90s. Thomas ended his NFL career with 12,074 rushing yards, 88 total touchdowns, and 472 receptions. Thomas was inducted to the NFL Hall of Fame in 2007 joining teammates, Jim Kelly and James Lofton.
Business and team ownership post NFL career
In 2007 Thomas moved his family back to the Buffalo area, where he serves as the President and CEO of Thurman Thomas Sports Training. In 2008 he acquired a share of the Rochester Raiders, a indoor football team that plays in the Indoor Football League.
There have been rumors that he along with the other Raiders owners have been trying to recruit Thomas’ former teammate QB Jim Kelly to come in as an owner, and that the group has been trying to get an Arena League team for the Buffalo area. http://www.rochesterraiders.com/news.php
