Thurman Munson was an all-star catcher who played his entire career for the New York Yankees. He was the first Yankee to be named captain of the team since Lou Gehrig, and led the "Bronx Bombers" to two World Series titles and three American League pennants. His career was tragically cut short when he died in a private airplane crash on August 2, 1979. His locker remains unoccupied in the Yankee clubhouse in tribute, and a replica of his locker as it was the day he died remains on display at the Baseball Hall of Fame.
