Throw Me The Statue

Categories: Music | Indie
  • Throw Me The Statue was originally a pseudonym for multi-instrumentalist Scott Reitherman, who wrote and recorded songs under the moniker while running an independent record label in Seattle. He has since released a debut album, 2008's Moonbeams and turned the project into a touring band.
  • Career Overview

In 2004, Scott Reitherman opened his own independent record label, Baskerville Hill records, in Seattle, modeled on the success of K Records. In 2007, he released an album of his own recordings, made largely by himself (with some help from Casey Foubert of Pedro the Lion and Sufjan Stevens' band.

After releasing Moonbeams, Reitherman recruited musicians Aaron Goldman, Will Cone, Joe Syverson and Jarred Grimes to the project and played live shows as a band, now called Throw Me The Statue. He was soon signed to the larger indie label Secretly Canadian, which re-released Moonbeams and set the band up on a tour with Swedish musician Jens Lekman.
