From the late 1960s through the mid 1970s, Three Dog Night sold almost 50 million records. Three of their songs made it to number on the U.S. charts including a cover of Randy Newman's "Mama Told Me Not to Come", "Joy to the World" and "Black and White". The group parted ways in 1977, but reunited in 1983. In 2008 they were still performing on average 85 concert dates a year.
