Thomasville Furniture

Thomasville Furniture Industries, Inc is a manufacturer of moderate to higher priced home furnishings, specializing in pieces for the living room, dining room, and bedroom.http://www.thomasville.com/Furniture/Living-Room-Furniture.aspx

The company was founded in 1904, as a chair company, producing 180 units each day. Within three years the company had amassed a debt of $2,000 in lumber fees to the Finch brothers, T.J. and D.F. Finch.http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/Thomasville-Furniture-Industries-Inc-Company-History.html After working with the company to protect their investment, the Finch brothers bought out the owners and assumed control later that year.http://www.thomasville.com/About-Thomasville/History.aspx

Within a year of the acquisition, the Finch brothers were reporting large profits, and decided to expand the company. Over the next several years, Thomasville continued to grow through the purchase and establishment of smaller furniture companies and factories. In 1925, Thomasville became the first furniture company in the industry to go national, with their chairs being included as part of a larger set produced in association with St. Johns Table Company and the B.F. Huntley Furniture Company.http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/Thomasville-Furniture-Industries-Inc-Company-History.html

Thomasville was able to remain in business, maintaining workers' hourly wages and continuing production through the Great Depression and World War II, by modifying their product lines to include goods like rolling pins and plywood for airplanes.http://www.thomasville.com/About-Thomasville/History.aspx

The Thomasville Chair Company merged with the B.F. Huntley Company in 1961, becoming Thomasville Furniture Industries in 1962. The company continued to grow over the next few decades, adjusting its practices and productivity to meet the demands of the industry. During the 1990's, Thomasville introduced a line of furniture equipped with electronic components. During this time they also released their first national advertising campaigns, through direct mail, television, and print.http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/Thomasville-Furniture-Industries-Inc-Company-History.html

Today, Thomasville furniture operates more than 160 furniture retail outlets, and has their products available in nearly 500 stores nationwide.http://biz.yahoo.com/ic/107/107360.html
