Thomas Kane was a 17-year-old senior at the Canandaigua Academy in Canandaigua, New York. On May 5, 2009, he brought a gun to school and shot himself to death in a bathroom near the school's gym. On May 14, 2009, Canandaigua police released excepts from 17-year-old Kane's journal, which included an entry written on May 5, the day Kane shot himself in a bathroom at his high school. Shooting in Public School
On the morning of May 5, 2009, Thomas Kane killed himself in one of the bathrooms at his public high school. None of the other students were hurt, and it appears as if the shooting was an isolated incident.
