McGovern's Choice of Eagleton
McGovern chose Eagleton as his running mate just before the 1972 Democratic Convention in Miami. After Eagleton accepted the nomination to be the Democratic Party candidate for vice-president, he admitted that he had undergone electric shock therapy and had been hospitalized for depression three times in the 1960s.
