Thomas Barnett is an American military strategist. He has a background in international relations and political science, and has published books on the subject of globalization.

Controversial Views
Barnett originally published an essay entitled The Pentagon's New Map in the March, 2003 issue of Esquire Magazine. In it, he outlined strategies for reforming the U.S. military in light of contemporary developments in international relations.
