On May 6, 2008, authorities arrested nearly 100 people, including 75 students, in a drug bust at San Diego State University. The arrests came after several search warrants were issued, including one at the Theta Chi fraternity house on the SDSU campus.
Authorities said fraternity members of San Diego State chapters of Theta Chi, Phi Kappa Psi and Delta Sigma Pi faced drug-related charges. SDSU President Steven Weber said all of the students arrested in the raid had been suspended.
On May 7, 2008, Theta Chi and five other SDSU fraternties were suspended from campus, pending a hearing on evidence gathered in the drug sweep. Authorities said agents found cocaine, Ecstasy and three guns during a search of the frat house.

Reports say text messages were used to arrange drug sales. Prosecutors have said a Theta Chi fraternity member sent a text message to customers promoting a "sale" on cocaine at discounted prices.
