History
After a divorce left her alone with two children to raise, Houston joined the Art Reynolds Singers and sang lead on their popular single "Glory Glory Hallelujah" for Capital Records. She was signed with Dunhill Records after impressing manager Marc Gordon. She signed with Motown Records in 1971 and released many singles that just failed to be a hit. Finally in 1976 "Don't Leave Me This Way" soared to the top of the pop charts. -
