• The Wiz is an "urban" remake of The Wizard of Oz, based on the L. Frank Baum books The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. It appeared on Broadway in 1975 and the film interpretation was released in 1978. The film suffered major financial losses and critic's reviews were negative, but the remains a cult classic. The Wiz was nominated for four Academy Awards and seven Saturn Awards.
