  • The Who performed at the Super Bowl halftime show of Super Bowl XLIV February 7, 2010 in Miami on CBS. The Who have a strong CBS connection with three of their most well-known songs being used as intros for the network's three CSI shows: "Who Are You" (CSI), "Baba O'Riley" (CSI NY) and "Won't Get Fooled Again" (CSI Miami). http://www.nypost.com/p/entertainment/tv/the_who_super_bowl_halftime_performers_3KlZoBjckCZ4olRCljqKtJ

The British rockers are comprised of only two original members, vocalist Roger Daltrey and songwriter/guitarist Pete Townshend, with original drummer Keith Moon and bassist John Entwistle passed away. Members of the backing band include drummer Zak Starkey, bassist Pino Palladino, guitarist Simon Townshend and keyboardist John "Rabbit" Bundrick. Recent performers for the National Football League's championship game have included Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Paul McCartney, U2, The Rolling Stones, Prince and Bruce Springsteen. http://www.nypost.com/p/entertainment/tv/the_who_super_bowl_halftime_performers_3KlZoBjckCZ4olRCljqKtJ

Townshend announced on his blog on August 26, 2009 that he was working on a new musical project called FLOSS, to be staged in 2011 and that some of the songs from that project would be included on a new album to be released in 2010; however, at the press conference in advance of the Super Bowl performance, Townsend indicated that future plans were on hold due to his recurring tinnitus and shoulder injury.http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/08/25/pete-townshend-writing-new-musical-songs-headed-for-who-lp/
  • The Who Super Bowl Set List

In an interview with Billboard, Townshend revealed the song choices for their halftime performance. "We're kinda doing a mashup of stuff," he told the publication. "A bit of 'Baba'O'Riley,' a bit of 'Pinball Wizard,' a bit of the close of 'Tommy,' a bit of 'Who Are You,' and a bit of 'Won't Get Fooled Again.' It works -- it's quite a saga. A lot of the stuff that we do has that kind of celebratory vibe about it -- we've always tried to make music that allows the audience to go a bit wild if they want to. Hopefully it will hit the spot." The set was put together by Daltrey, Pete's brother Simon Townshend, executive producer Ricky Kirschner and new director Hamish Hamilton.http://www.billboard.com/#/events/the-who-reveals-super-bowl-set-list-1004061611.story
