Fast Facts:
Career Overview
After attending a concert by Japanese rock band Guitar Wolf, bartender Jason Stollsteimer decided to form his own band. He recruited the original lineup of Lauren Wilcox, Marcie Bolen and Don Blum and started playing shows around the Detroit area.
After participating in a compilation project for fellow Detroit native and White Stripes frontman Jack White, he agreed to produce their debut album, 2001's Lack of Communication. The album became a success and The Von Bondies took off on an international tour before recording their follow-up, 2004's Pawn Shoppe Heart.
The band's third release, Love, Hate and Then There's You will be released in 2009.
Fight with Jack White
During a December, 2003 record release party for another Detroit band, Blanche, Stollsteimer and White were involved in a well-publicized fistfight, allegedly over a disputed "producer" credit denied to Jim Diamond by White. White plead guilty to aggravated assault and had to pay a $750 fine and attend anger management classes.
