The Veronicas

Aria award-winning power pop duo The Veronicas are not only band mates but also twin sisters. Originally from Australia, the girls started acting at the age of five. By 2001, they were cast on the Australian television show Cybergirl, where they portrayed twin sisters Emerald and Sapphire.

At the age of 18, Jessica and Lisa formed their first band, Teal, and released their first single, "Baby It's Over." The single was not successful in Australia, although it did bring attention to the girls songwriting abilities. The duo began writing songs for Australian Idol. The twins moved to the United States and created their group name, The Veronicas. Their new name derives from Veronica Lodge who is a character in the Archie Comics.

The Duo signed their first record deal and released their debut album, The Secret Life of ..., which stayed in the Top 40 of the Australian pop charts for nearly a year. The album peaked at #136 on the Billboard 200 when it debuted in the United States. They followed up with their second album, Hook Me Up which was released in Australia on November 3, 2007.
