The Undertaker (real name Mark Calaway) is a professional wrestler for World Wrestling Entertainment's SmackDown brand. After wrestling briefly with WCW, Calaway debuted in the WWF as "The Undertaker" at the Survivor Series in 1990. He is one of the longest tenured wrestlers in WWE. On April 5, 2009, Undertaker had his 17th Wrestlemania win in a row, against Shawn Michaels.
The Undertaker made his official WWF debut at the Survivor Series in 1990 as Ted DiBiase's mystery partner. He made his WrestleMania debut in 1991, defeating "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka.
Changing Personas
The Undertaker's character has gone through multiple changes throughout his career. From his debut in 1990 until 1999, Undertaker's character was that of "the Deadman" (with subtle changes throughout). In May of 2000, The Undertaker returned as the "American Badass," a more realistic, biker character. A heel turn in 2002 saw this persona become "Big Evil" with the biker persona enhanced with monster heel actions. After another hiatus following being "buried alive" by Kane in 2003, Undertaker returned to his original "Deadman" gimmick at WrestleMania XX to face Kane.
Highlights of The Undertaker
The Undertaker is one of the longest-serving athletes in the WWE. He made his debut in the then-called WWF in 1990 as Kane the Undertaker. He has gone through various character changes, such as The American Badass, but it more well known as The Undertaker or The Deadman. At the 2010 Royal Rumble, he defeated Rey Mysterio Jr. to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
