Synopsis
As part of the Ultimate Marvel series, which reimagines the origins of various Marvel characters, The Ultimates recounts the formation and early adventures of the Avengers.
In the first volume, Nick Fury, member of S.H.I.E.L.D., forms the Ultimates with five other superheros. One of them, Bruce Banner, injects himself with a serum that transforms him into The Hulk. The Hulk goes on a rampage and destroys Manhattan.
The Ultimates eventually subdue the Hulk just in time to save the galaxy from a threatening alien race.
