The Trouble with Harry

  • The Trouble with Harry is a 1955 film about the residents of a small Vermont town who try to conceal a mysterious dead body of a man, Harry, that has appeared on a nearby hillside. The main characters all believe themselves to be the one who has killed Harry. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock, the film is a dark comedy that was based on a novel of the same name by Jack Trevor Story. It is one of Hitchcock's few films that can truly be called a comedy and is significant in his career as it marks the beginning of his relationship with composer Bernard Herrmann who went on to score some of Hitchcock's most acclaimed films. While the film was a box office failure in the United States, it was exceptionally popular in England, where it remained in theaters for over a year.
