H.G. Wells' classic novel The Time Machine is the story of a Victorian scientist who invents a time machine, and his ensuing adventures in the future.
Plot Synopsis
The book follows the inventor of a time machine as he travels to the year 802,701 AD. He comes across the civilization of the Eloi, a humanoid race that live a peaceful communist society. He discovers a second species, the Morlocks, who are the cannibal working class and have taken his time machine. He manages to get his machine back and travels even further into the future just before the planet Earth is wiped out of existence. He then returns home, to his original time, and recounts the events to his friends.
Critical Reception
The Time Machine is one of the most famous Science Fiction works of all time. It has been referenced in countless works and inspired many sequels.
