  • The Thomas Crown Affair is a 1999 remake of the 1968 film of the same name, which was directed by John McTiernan and stars Pierce Brosnan, Rene Russo and Dennis Leary. The movie is about a billionaire art thief named Thomas Crown (played by Pierce Brosnan) who steals a Monet painting (the San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk). An insurance investigator named Catherine Banning (played by Rene Russo) is brought in to take over the case, and she immediately suspects Crown. The two play a cunning game of cat and mouse, and wind up falling in love during the process.

    The Thomas Crown Affair was written by Alan Trustman, Leslie Dixon and Kurt Wimmer, produced by Michael Tadross, Pierce Brosnan and Beau St. Clair, and was distributed by MGM.

    A sequel to the film, The Topkapi Affair, is currently in development and is set for release in 2009.
