The Thing is a 1982 science fiction horror film from director John Carpenter. The film is adapted from the John W. Campbell story Who Goes There? and also from Howard Hawks' 1951 horror feature The Thing from Another Planet. Plot Summary
The film follows the crew of an American research outpost in Antarctica. When the men rescue a dog from a team of armed Norwegians, a series of bizarre events follow. Certain members of the crew start to act strange and it is soon discovered that an alien life form is infesting each man that it comes in contact with. Cut off from outside help, the group must find out exactly who is infested and how to stop the alien in order to survive.
Kurt Russell stars as helicopter pilot R.J. MacReady, the one that the men turn to for leadership. MacReady attempts to keep order amidst all the chaos, but events quickly spiral out of hand.
