"The Thin Red Line" is an action, drama and war movie written and directed by Terrence Malick. It was released on January 15, 1999 and is based on the 1962 novel, From Here To Eternity, by James Jones. The movie stars James Caviezel as Private Witt, a deserter living in the Pacific Islands. He is captured by the Navy and returns to active duty during World War II. The movie stars Sean Penn, Woody Harrelson, Nick Nolte, John Savage and George Clooney.
Plot Synopsis

The Thin Red Line tells the story of Private Witt, played by James Caviezel. Witt is a deserter living in the Pacific Islands and is captured by the Navy and sent to active duty in preparation for the Battle of Guadalcanal in World War II.
