  • Story

A nuclear bomb recovered from a 1973 Israeli A-4 Jet crash falls into the wrong hands and is sold on the black market to the Australian neo-Nazi Richard Dressler (Alan Bates). Dressler has the bomb assembled in Russia, and then installs the bomb in a football stadium in Baltimore, Maryland in an attempt to start a war between Russia and America. Russia's new president, Alexander Nemerov (Ciaran Hinds), is a questionable military figure, and part of Dressler's plan includes American paranoia over the situation. CIA analyst Jack Ryan (Ben Affleck) and director William Cabot (Morgan Freeman) acquire a tape of Dressler explaining his intentions. They then attempt to warn the President of the threat and stop the impending nuclear war between America and Russia.
