The Sound of Music

  • The Richard Rodgers-Oscar Hammerstein II musical The Sound of Music was based on the book The Story of the Trapp Family Singers by Maria von Trapp. The story was made into an award winning film, released in 1965. It was selected by the United States Library of Congress to be preserved in the National Film Registry in 2001, as it was deemed a significant part of film history.
