  • Plot Synopsis

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is about four teenage girls who begin to go their separate ways over the course of a summer. The book follows the adventures of the different girls as the jeans travel through Greece, South Carolina and Mexico.
  • Critical Reception

    • "[Brashares] is simply a better writer than most of the authors of this kind of literature and, as her story flits back and forth among the girls, she builds a reservoir of affection for each character that makes the climax of each of their stories surprisingly effective." - Commonsense Media
    • "Their bonds, combined with a realistic portrayal of teen emotions make for an outstanding and vivid book that will stay with readers for a long time. Readers will hope that Brashares chronicles the sisterhood for volumes to come." - Publishers Weekly
