The Simpsons

The long running animated cartoon series The Simpsons airs on the FOX network, currently in the Sunday 8/7c timeslot. The show features the Simpson family - father Homer, mother Marge, and children Lisa, Bart and Maggie on a variety of humorous adventures, activities, and situations. On February 15, 2009, the show changed its long held main title sequence to reflect current times, including the replacement of the family's classic tube TV with a more modern LCD or Plasma screen television.

The show is currently in it's 21's season, making it America's longest running sitcom. Season 21 began September 21st 2009 as part of FOX's Sunday lineup, and will continue to air for 17 episodes with the season finale on April 11, 2010. The Simpsons also have a feature film, called Simpsons Movie which was released July 27 2010. The movie grossed over $183 million in theaters and was generally well-received by critics.http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/simpsons_movie/

The Characters

The Simpsons is based in the fictional town of Springfield depicting the lives of a highly dysfunctional family with three children. The oldest is 10-year-old Bart Simpson, a young boy who gets into more trouble than most people would in their lifetime. The middle child is 8-year-old Lisa Simpson, a highly intelligent saxophone player who just doesn't fit in. The youngest is Maggie Simpson, the baby who carries a pacifier in her mouth at all times. Their parents Homer and Marge turn a blind eye to most of the antics of the children. Homer works at the local power plant and is of admittedly lower than average intelligence. Marge is a housewife who spends the majority of her time caring for the children.
