The Ring movies are a series of horror films about a cursed videotape possessed with the tormented spirit of a little girl. Anyone who watches the tape mysteriously dies in seven days. The American films are remakes of the original Japanese versions, Ringu (1998) and Ringu 2 (1999), which were adapted from the novel by Koji Suzuki.
The Ring Story (2002)
Journalist Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) starts to investigate her niece Katie's (Amber Tamblyn) gruesome and puzzling death: she died exactly seven days after watching a strange videotape. Keller discovers that the tape is possessed with the ghost of little girl named Samara (Daveigh Chase), who uses the tape as a vessel of vengeance for her wrongful death. After Keller and her son Aiden (David Dorfman) watch the tape she must race to find a solution before her seven days are up.
The Ring Two Story (2005)
Six months have passed and journalist Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) has moved on from the events of the first film, relocating from Seattle to Astoria, Oregon and taking a new job. However, after a series of paranormal events and deaths, Keller realizes that her son Aiden is possessed with the spirit of Samara.
