The Rescuers is Disney's 23rd animated feature that was released in 1977. It is based on a series of children's novels written by Margery Sharp, which began with 1959's The Rescuers and 1962's Miss Bianca. It was important to Disney's animation studio because it was the first successful project that combined the efforts of their original team of writers with its newly-recruited staff that formed Walt Disney Productions.
