The Replacements were a Minneapolis-based Alternative Rock band led by enigmatic singer-songwriter Paul Westerberg. While they never experienced a great deal of commercial success during their career, they are often considered to be one of the seminal bands of the underground alternative music scene of the 1980s, having a direct influence on bands such as Pavement, Green Day and the Goo Goo Dolls. Besides releasing seven albums during their career, they were also notorious for their notorious live shows, often performing while drunk and damaging their instruments on stage. After breaking up in 1991, Westerberg went on to have a moderately successful solo career.
