The Rapture are a band from New York City. Their music combines elements of dance and post-punk.
The Rapture was formed in 1998 by drummer Vito Roccoforte and guitarist/vocalist Luke Jenner. After two years of touring, the lead track from the band's six-song EP Out of the Races and Onto the Tracks was featured in the film adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' The Rules of Attraction.
The band released their first full-length record, Echoes, in 2003. The album was a critical success, and The Rapture spent the next year touring with such bands as Franz Ferdinand, The Von Bondies, Funeral for a Friend, Mogwai, The Killers and Interpol.
The group released its second full-length album Pieces of the People We Love on Universal Motown Records in 2006.
Their song "No Sex for Ben" is featured on "The Music of Grand Theft Auto IV" CD that is bundled with the special edition package of the game.
