  • The Ramones were a Rock band from New York City and one of the first bands to help popularize the Punk Rock genre and achieve a large amount of success and recognition. Although they never received a great deal of commercial success, their influence on popular music and a generation of new bands has been significant.

    While the members of the band all assumed the surname "Ramone", none of them were actually related to each other. The original three members began playing together in the Queens borough of New York City. They got their start playing live shows at the famed club CBGB's.
