Review for The Partridge Family Show
"The show's candy-colored production design is eye-catching and vivid, but never seems cartoonish. Instead, the band's pseudo-Edwardian costumes and "Careful: Nervous Mother Driving"-inscribed bus come across as the work of a creative and hip - but not too hip - mom. And while the Partridges' songs are not as creative and varied as those of the Monkees, their pure, sugary pop sound is still hard to beat."—A.J. The Partridge Family Trivia
The original pilot for The Partridge Family was shot in December, 1969 on the Columbia Ranch in Burbank California. In the original version, which runs approximately 35 minutes, the family lived in Ohio, Shirley was named Connie Partridge, she dated a man played by Jack Cassidy, and the musical sequences were longer. In addition, they used the home and driveway from the "I Dream of Jeannie" façade (which was still in production) rather than the home used later on. Then the completed pilot, incorporating various changes, had to pass an audience research test before it could be approved by the network and given the green-light to go to series. ABC then scheduled the show opposite Andy Griffith's new CBS series, "The Headmaster" on Friday nights -- turning the Partridges into sitting ducks (or so they thought). Little did they know the producers had a secret weapon: a young actor named David Cassidy and a song called "I Think I Love You!" The rest is TV history.

The New Partridge Family Search
In 2004, VH-1 along with David Cassidy, produced a reality show based on the original Partridge Family. This show was searching for a new cast for the production of a new Partridge Family show. The search ran for eight weeks, and viewers were encouraged to vote for the people they wanted to be the new Shirley, Keith, Laurie, and Danny Partridge (the roles of Chris, Tracy, and Reuben were to be cast at a later date).
The pilot episode was aired in January 2005 and was then immediately cancelled.
David Cassidy, Shirley Jones, and Danny Bonaduce made appearances for this new show. And, Ryan Cassidy, David's younger step-brother and real-life son of Shirley Jones, was the property master for the new series.
