The Outsiders is a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by S. E. Hinton about an urban gang of young men that fight to survive on the streets of Tulsa, Oklahoma. They are constantly on the run from other gangs and the police. Their situation become even more dire when one of the young men accidentally kills a rival. When they are backed into a corner they must band together in order to stay alive.
The Outsiders directed by Francis Ford Coppola launched the careers of the seven previously unheard of actors in it Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, C. Thomas Howell, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez and Tom Cruise. Almost all of them went on to superstardom.
