  • The Notebook is a New Line Cinema film based on the best-selling novel by Nicholas Sparks about a life long love affair, told through the reading of a diary.

    The movie begins in a nursing home with Duke (James Garner) visiting an older woman (Gena Rowlands) who is suffering from Alzheimer's. He reads to the woman from a notebook about two young lovers, Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling), and the story of how their lives are shaped by WW II, family, and their own choices.

    The film was extremely popular with women because of the romance and sentimentality. On IMDb's Women's Top 50 Films, it ranked in at 27th place. The film grossed around $115.6 million worldwide.
