The Neptunes

The Neptunes are Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, a production team to have produced some of the most successful R&B, Pop Music and Hip-Hop acts of the early 2000s.

Although they attended different schools, Pharrell and Chad met at a jazz workshop at age 12. They were both also members of a marching band where Pharrell was a snare drummer and Chad was a student conductor. They eventually started an R&B; group and were discovered by Teddy Riley of Blackstreet fame at a local talent contest. After graduating from High School they signed with Riley as a group. Eventually they began producing as "The Neptunes" and developed a distinctive sound that was first heard on Noreaga's 1998 Superthug track.
