The National are a Brooklyn-based indie rock band fronted by singer Matt Berninger The band is rounded out by two pairs of brothers, Aaron and Bryce Dessner and Scott and Bryan Devendorf.

History
The National's first two albums, The National and Songs for Dirty Lovers, were released on the band's own Brassland Records label. In 2005, the band's members quit their day jobs and moved to Beggars Banquet Records and released 2005's Alligator. The album was met with widespread critical acclaim and was included on "Album of the Year" charts in the Los Angeles Times, Insound and Uncut. The band followed up Alligator with 2007's Boxer, which was also a critical success. It was named the number one album of the year by Paste magazine and the number two album of the year by the Stereogum music blog.-
