The Mummy Returns

  • The second film in The Mummy series, The Mummy Returns follows Rick and Evelyn O'Connell as they race to rescue their kidnapped son from an Egyptian cult.

The film, released in 2001, also introduced the character of The Scorpion King, who would appear in a spin-off film of the same name in 2002.

  • Success and Merchandise

A 2001 summer tentpole film, The Mummy Returns grossed over $200 million in U.S. ticket sales and over $230 million overseas. The film also benefited from considerable merchandising, with sales of action figures and video games for the Playstation 2 and Game Boy Color.

The Scorpion King proved less successful. Released the following year, it took in only $91 million at the domestic box office.
