  • Plot Synopsis

    The More the Merrier tells the story of three roommates in a tiny Washington, DC apartment during World War II. Benjamin, an older gentleman played by Charles Coburn, is living with Joe and Connie, played by Joel McCrea and Jean Arthur. Connie is engaged to Charles, played by Richard Gaines, but that doesn't stop Benjamin in trying and get Joe and Connie together. After Benjamin reads Connie's diary to Joe, she insists that both men leave the apartment, but she allows them to stay when Benajamin takes full responsibility for the incident. Later Joe is questioned by the police, believed to be a Japanese spy. Connie was taken in for questioning as well and upon being released, gets married to Joe.
