The Mooney Suzuki

Categories: Entertainment | Music | Rock
  • The Mooney Suzuki is a rock band from New York City known for high-energy live performances, and a unique sound that blends garage rock, classic rock and indie. Initially classified alongside The White Stripes as leading lights of the early-2000s garage rock revival, the band was later criticized for its third album, 2004's Alive & Amplified, a major-label debut featuring collaborations with the mainstream pop songwriting team The Matrix (known for its work with Avril Lavigne). The album contained pop elements, but didn't abandon the group's sound entirely; and the follow-up, 2007's Have Mercy was a return to the rawer, original Mooney Suzuki aesthetic. A live album was released in March, 2008: CBGB OMFUG Masters: Live June 29, 2001, The Bowery Collection.
