The Mars Volta

  • The Mars Volta is an alternative rock band initially formed from the band At the Drive-In. They are known for their energetic, spunky and wild live shows, at which they typically have some sort of jam session that does not strictly adhere to the band's songs on their albums.
  • At The Drive-In Breakup

At the Drive-In broke up in 2001 due in large part to the band's growing popularity and the stress that fame put on the band's members, including a grueling travel. Artistic differences were also said to impact that band and contribute to its break-up. Mars Volta member Cedric Bixler-Zavala took responsibility for the breakup of the band, saying that he did not want to be confined to a punk or hardcore sound.
