The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956 Film)

  • Alfred Hitchcock remakes one of his own original classic thrillers with the 1956 version of "The Man Who Knew Too Much" starring James Stewart as the title character and Doris Day as his wife. Though a bit longer (and with better music), the plot remains the same: a desperate father tries to save his child while preventing a major assassination.

"While drawing the footage out a bit long, he still keeps suspense working at all times and gets strong performances from the two stars and other cast members." -- Variety http://www.variety.com/review/VE1117792961.html?categoryid=31&cs=1

"James Stewart tops his job in "Rear Window" as the man who knows too much, and Doris Day is surprisingly effective as the mother who is frantic about her child." -- The New York Times http://movies.nytimes.com/movie/review?res=9505EFD91E3CE03BBC4F52DFB366838D649EDE&partner=Rotten%20Tomatoes
