  • Third Time's a Charm

    The 1941 film was actually the third version of Hammet's novel to be turned into film. The first film version of The Maltese Falcon was released in 1931 with Ricardo Cortez in the lead role. The second version, Satan Met a Lady, was a very loose, comedic adaptation released in 1936 with Warren William and a young Bette Davis.
