The Magnetic Fields

  • The Magnetic Fields are an indie pop band from Boston, Massachusetts led by singer-songwriter Stephin Merritt. They are known for Merritt's characteristically morose and witty lyrical style as well as their use of many relatively uncommon instruments. Their albums are often built around a specific theme revealed by the title, like 1999's 69 Love Songs, a triple-disc album full of love songs both happy and sad, and 2008's i, in which every song title begins with the letter "i."
