The Lovely Bones

The Lovely Bones is a novel written by Alice Sebold that was published in 2002. It is a story of murder, family bonds and life beyond death.

Inspired by hardships in the Sebold's past, the book is one of the few modern stories with an omniscient narrator.

Plot Synopsis

The Lovely Bones follows the story of Susie Salmon who was both raped and murdered. As Susie's friends and family continue on with their lives, the young teenage girl watches them from heaven.

Critical Reception

While the book was a surprise success, it involves controversial topics throughout its plot.
