The Lodger is a 2009 film starring Alfred Molina, Hope Davis and Simon Baker. The film is inspired by the Alfred Hitchcock silent film The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog which was originally based on the book of the same name by Marie Belloc Lowndes.

The Lodger Synopsis
Detective Chandler Manning (Alfred Molina), in on the trail of a Jack the Ripper type copycat serial killer. Like the famous serial killer ,this copycat targets prostitutes but the victims this time are working girls along the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. Detective Chandler Manning works to avoid the same fate of the original crime, which led to an unsolved mystery and a killer who was never caught by police.
Things are made more complicated by the fact that Detective Manning notices similarities between this new killer and another serial murderer who was imprisoned several years earlier. Which could mean that the wrong person is in prison for a crime they may not have committed. Official Site: The Lodger
