The King of Kong (full title: The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters) is a documentary feature film focusing on a humble videogame player named Steve Wiebe, who attempts to break the long-held Donkey Kong world record, and his nemesis the record holder, the confident Billy Mitchell, who will do anything to hold onto his hallowed record.
Background
The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters was directed by Seth Gordon, who worked as a cinematographer on the critically acclaimed documentary Shut Up & Sing featuring the Dixie Chicks. The film was generally praised even finding it's way to several Top Ten Lists in 2007. The film would earn a modest $519,005 in limited release but has found an audience with it's release on DVD. A feature film is being developed, and director Seth Gordon is contemplating a sequel documentary which focuses on how the film has affected the lives of Wiebe and Mitchell.
