  • The Jetsons was a 1960s animated television series showcasing a family who was supposed to be living "one hundred years in the future". Although the original show only aired for two seasons, from 1962 to 1963, additional episodes were created in the 1980s.
  • Brief Background

The Jetsons were a family, living presumably some time in the 21st century, who dealt with many of the same family-oriented issues faced by Flintstones thousands of years earlier. The patriarch of the clan, George Jetson, worked every day at Spacely's Space Sprockets, a job at which his sole duty was to press a single button but which he still found exhausting. George's wife, Jane, appeared every bit the comely 1960s housewife, except her robot maid, Rosie, performed much of the household chores. George was always proud of his boy Elroy and daughter Judy, although the two managed to be mischievous and cause the typical problems teens and pre-teens are prone to. The Jetsons, like The Flintstones also have a dog, although Astro can speak, as long as he puts "R" in front of every word. George's hyperactive boss, Mr. Spacely, often fires George although he usually just as quickly rehires him; Mr. Spacely typically derives his anxiety from his main astro-industrial competitor, S.K. Cogswell, the owner of Cogswell Cogs.
