The Iron Giant

The Iron Giant is an animated film about a boy who finds a giant iron robot who has fallen to earth from space. The boy must save his new friend from those who are trying to destroy him.

Development of the movie began in the mid 1990s. The script was approved by Ted Hughes, the author of the novel which the film is based. After much struggling to complete the film, The Iron Giant was finally released on August 6, 1999. The movie was met with high praise from film critics. It won several awards such as the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation and the Nebula Award from the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. Despite its reception, the movie failed commercially, making only $23,159,305 domestic.
