Oscar Controversy
Nicolas Chartier, producer of the film, was banned from attending the Oscars ceremony by the Academy of Film Arts and Sciences because of his conduct in attempting to sway voters to vote his film instead of Avatar. In reference to James Cameron's film, he emailed a group of Oscar voters asking them to vote for The Hurt Locker instead of "a $500M film" for the Best Picture award. Chartier later issued a public apology stating that it was "out of line and not in the spirit of the celebration of cinema that this acknowledgment is."http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1632611/story.jhtml -
