The Hunt for Red October is a 1990 drama about a Soviet submarine captain (Sean Connery) who is attempting to defect to the United States (along with his ballistic missile equipped submarine) and the CIA analyst (Alec Baldwin) who is trying to protect the captain from a vengeful Soviet government. Based on the Tom Clancy novel of the same name, the movie was a commercial success and went on to gross over $100 million, although the critics weren't as happy with it as the movie-going public.
