  • About the Game

The House of the Dead: Overkill is a zombie shooter with a good dose of humor. The game has a decidedly Grindhouse "70s B-movie exploitation" inspiration and gameplay is purposely over-the-top and silly. The developers worked hard to satisfy fans of the series, while updating the tried and true to give it a fresh feel.IGN: The House of the Dead: Overkill - Franchise

The first House of the Dead game was released in 1996, and the series quickly became a staple in arcades. The games were railroad shooters, meaning the player automatically turned and moved as if he were attached to a railroad. All the player had to do was point and shoot as enemies came onscreen. Players now have a bit more control over their movement and the game now features Mo-Fo time, which is essentially slow motion and gives players more precision when shooting.

In keeping with House of the Dead tradition, Overkill will use the Wii Zapper for ranged attacks and the Wii Remote will serve as a melee weapon. In the UK and Australia, lucky players are getting a "Big Bang Box," a collector's edition that comes with two Hand Cannon guns, a comic book and a copy of the game. No word yet whether the set will be released in other regions.Joystiq: House of the Dead: Overkill Hand Cannon... (January 16, 2009)
